IN OUR WORDS, 2011-Present, USA. Founder/Interviewer/Transcriber/Playwright of interview-based theatre company. From ongoing interviews, stories are uploaded to the project website. The stories are then threaded together into full-length plays and performed in a variety of professional and community-based venues. Teaching Artist, The Center for Arts Education, New York, NY.
2013-Present. Developed and implementing an intergenerational theatre residency for the Parents As Arts Partners program. The unit includes students who attend a Manhattan public school and their parents. The focus of the residency is on interview-based theatre, where students and their parents will interview each other on a subject of importance to the whole group and then perform for each other the stories extracted through the interviewing process. Several interactive and reflective group and individual activities will provide participants with multiple access points to this genre of theatre.
2014-Developing and implementing an in-school middle school theatre residency that is for the Arts Engage Initiative, a three-year arts plus arts integration research project funded by the United States Department of Education.
2013-Present, Developed and implementing a Theatre Business Residency with students in a public middle school in Brooklyn to fulfill a federal 21st Century Community Learning Centers grant. The residency culminates with a public performance, replete with the myriad facets that make theatre viable as a business, including accounting - budgeting income and expenses, marketing/advertising/public relations, technical theatre, ticket and merchandise sales, and ultimately a quality theatrical production that brings about positive social change within the community served through the grant.
2013. Facilitated a two-hour theatre workshop for students whose parents were attending the Queens United Federation of Teachers Conference.
2014. Summer Intensive - Developed and implemented 5-session unit using theatre to teach English to 3-5 grade ESOL students. Residency culminated in a sharing of group-devised scenes.
Teaching Artist, 2013-Present, YMCA, New York, NY. Create and facilitate theatre workshops for participants ages 5-12. Workshop lesson plan titles include: Interview Theatre, Spoken Word Poetry, Soundscapes, Physical Theatre, Storytelling, Mask Making, and Character.
Teaching Artist, 2013, SCO Family of Services, New York, NY. 8-week residency in theatre with K-5th grade students from PS 5 in Brooklyn. Participants devised material based on their lived experience blended with fictional inputs. Residencies culminated in a combined fully staged public performance.
Into the Light Walk, 2011-2013, USA. Walked 6,000 miles from the Pacific Northwest to Washington, DC for gender and sexual orientation equality. While walking I performed When People Lead, a one-act interview theatre play (see artistic resume). I also facilitated Theatre of the Oppressed and social movement workshops, spoke with groups and individuals, and held vigils remembering people who have been murdered or who have taken their own life due to hate based on their perceived or actual gender identity, gender expression, or sexual orientation. Workshop Facilitator, 2009-Present, USA. Facilitate a variety of workshops ranging in topics from interview-theatre, social change, civil disobedience, and Theatre of the Oppressed. Each workshop presents the content through theatre-infused activities and uses the theory of multiple intelligences to offer myriad ways for participants to access the workshop content. The workshops are often customized for individual group needs. Many workshops serve as organizing meetings that birth social movement action directly leading towards political and social wins for workshop participants and their causes. Campaigns
New York State Marriage Equality - Queer Rising, New York, NY. Series of direct actions that played integral role in the New York State legislature granting same-sex couples the right to marry in the state.
Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell Repeal - Queer Rising/GetEQUAL, USA. Series of direct actions that played integral role in the federal repeal of the law known as Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.
Queer SOS/Civil Rights Fast - New York, NY. 47 days of sustained activism pressuring United States Senator Kirsten Gillibrand to file a bill known as The American Equality Bill that adds “sexual orientation and gender identity” to the 1964 Civil Rights Act. Campaign advanced the conversation about full civil rights.
Hands Off St. Vincent’s - New York, NY. Trained newly formed direct action group and participated in actions as group was getting established. The group’s goal is to bring back a full service hospital to the West Village community in Manhattan, NY.
Connecting Rainbows: Civil Rights Walks for America, USA. Created social network for those active in the LGBTQ full civil rights movement to share with and learn from each other. Network consisted of over 350 members and was effectively used for several direct actions.
Actions
Vigils for people who have been murdered or who have taken their own lives due to discrimination based on their perceived or actual gender identity, gender expression, or sexual orientation. Vigils have received national and international media attention educating people about the horrible reality queer and perceived queer folks live with in America and around the world. Vigils organized in:
Washington DC, Richmond, Charlotte, Memphis, Birmingham, Atlanta, Cocoa Beach, Auburndale, Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Houston, Austin, San Antonio, Pocatello, Salt Lake City, Laramie, Portland, Tacoma, Tokeland, Seattle, New York, Winter Park.
Easter Parade Protest - Connecting Rainbows/Queer Rising, New York, NY. Two groups held a joint march and protest outside St. Patrick’s Cathedral on Easter Sunday protesting the bishop’s anti-LGBT views. Protest was covered in the New York Times, in daily papers across the nation, and in several online news outlets. The action took place just a few months before New York State voted in favor of marriage equality for same-sex couples. The media mostly angled the story towards marriage equality, though the focus of the action was a demand for full equality.
Grand Central Station Homo/Transphobia Kills Die-In, New York, NY. Raised awareness about the increased suicide rate among queer people compared to non-queers. Also highlighted murders based on victim’s perceived or actual gender identity, gender expression, or sexual orientation. Hundreds of people took part and media throughout the world covered the event.
Target Bigot Special - Madison, WI. Disruption in a Target store pressuring the retailer to stop funding anti-LGBT politicians and groups. YouTube video garnered over 238,000 views. Story of the action along with Target’s funding choices was picked up by major online news outlets. Due to this and other independent actions, Target stopped funding anti-LGBT groups and committed to fund pro-LGBT groups moving forward.
Times Square Love-In - Queer Rising, New York, NY. Building on the momentum of a recent media push documenting the higher suicide rate among queer youth compared to non-queer youth, gathered hundreds of supporters to spread the message that being queer is not shameful.
Homophobia Kills Die-In - Washington, DC. Brought together dozens of pro-LGBT equality activists from across the nation to confront the National Organization for Marriage, an anti-LGBT hate group, at the finale of their national anti-LGBT equality summer bus tour.
Script Reader, 2011, Public Theater, New York, NY. Contract position. Read and evaluated scripts and materials submitted by applicants to the Emerging Writers Group.
Professorial Assistant, 2009-2010, New York University, New York, NY. Assisted Professor Kent Gash, Director of NYU Tisch School of the Arts New Studio on Broadway: Music Theatre and Acting. Helped manage Mr. Gash’s calendar and researched potential teaching candidates for New Studio program.
Production Assistant, 2009, Sweet Storm, Labyrinth Theater Company, New York, NY. Contract position. Off-Broadway - Set props pre show, ran props during show, and cleaned up stage and backstage area following show.
Foundation Events Manager, 2006-2009, Orlando Health Foundation, Orlando, FL. Planned and managed major events. Duties included event logistics, management of interns and volunteers, budget management, forecasting, fundraising, and executive committee management. Exceeded fundraising goals.
Director of Special Events, 2004-2006, The American Lung Association of Florida - Central Area, Orlando, FL. Planned and managed major events and launched a Membership and Major Gifts Campaign. Operations Team Member, 2004, National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine, Los Angeles, CA. Contract position. Managed educational and recreation events for 400 pre-collegiate students with medical interest.

Interviewed key internal and external sources. Cataloged images for archives. Wrote, proofed, and edited website copy. Assembled and distributed press kits for 2004-2005 season.
Assistant Stage Manager, 2003-2005, Mark Baker Presents, Orlando, FL. Contract position. Led team during set up of staging, lighting, sound, and décor for large themed events for 6,000 guests. Called performer cues. Worked directly with venue management and staff.
Production Assistant, 2004, American Idol Productions, Orlando, FL. Contract Position. Checked-in those who auditioned, assisted judge during cattle call audition, and assisted crew during crowd scene.
Associate Producer, 2003-2004, The Catalyst Studio, Orlando, FL. Managed all client projects from concept to completion. Studio departments included marketing strategy, branding, graphics, virtual media, sound, live production, photography, and video production. Wrote for several internal and client projects. Senior Account Representative, 2002-2003, Mobile Mini, Inc., Orlando, FL. Rented mobile offices and off-site storage units to corporations and individuals. Billed over $150,000 in first year. Worked with city and county permitting departments on client's behalf.

Research
IN OUR WORDS, 2012-Present. Conducting ongoing interviews with people from all walks of life. The subjects share experiences on myriad subjects. The stories are then transcribed and curated into collections on certain themes and then turned into fully staged theatrical productions. When People Lead, 2011-Present. Interviewed seven subjects and extracted from interviews to create script for solo one-act play. Performances include: Cross City, Gulfport, Baton Rouge, Denton, San Antonio, Austin, Pueblo, Pocatello, Boise, Seattle.
Chained to Freedom, 2010. Autoethnographic solo one-act play that shares how I became an activist. Play premiered at the Orlando International Fringe Festival. Other performances include: Columbus, Madison, Princeton, Boston, State College, Weston, Orlando.
Conference Presentations
LGBTQ Youth Summit, 2012. OUTReach Resource Center at Weber State University, UT Presented workshop titled Arts & Activism for TBLGQ Youth. Two-hour workshop explored myriad ways in which the arts can be used to advance social movements.
Caught in the Act: Performance and Performativity Conference, 2010. UMass Amherst, Amherst, MA Co-presented How Many Voices?, a performance-art piece exploring the intersections between theatre and activism.
